Dear affiliates,

Some weeks ago we started the process for accepting members in the new
Global Network. We are very close to approving our 100th individual member,
and want to encourage your current affiliated organization to apply for
Institutional Membership in the Global Network. From our earliest
beginnings, CC has depended on the individual humans who have worked
tirelessly in support of our shared vision, but also and equally have
relied on the institutions that have provided the infrastructure,
continuity, support, and more that have made much of our work possible. The
success of the new network depends on the active participation of both.
There are myriad ways for institutions to engage alongside individuals
members -- we want you involved!

Claudio will be sending more information shortly, including information
about the process we'll be undertaking to terminate all current affiliate
institution MOUs and Affiliate Agreements by the Global Summit in April,
and how to sign up for Institutional Membership.

I strongly encourage institutions to start the process soon. The
application process is slightly different from the Individual Membership
process, because it does involve transitioning out of current agreements,
identifying trademarks and domain names registered in the name of
institutions and ensuring their transfer, if appropriate, and similar. With
the Global Summit quickly approaching, we'd like to be sure we have the
time to handle as many applications as possible in advance and ensure a
smooth transition.

Watch for a follow up email from Claudio shortly. And please don't hesitate
to reach out directly to legal at creativecommons.org if you have questions
throughout the application process or otherwise.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon at the Summit!

Warm regards,
Diane
