Hello friends! 👋🏽

Last week CC announced the Community Activities Fund
<https://creativecommons.org/2017/06/13/community-activities-fund/>.

To date, we have received 145 applications from all 6 regions in which CC
has a community presence: Africa, Arab World, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin
America and North America.

Frankly, I was stunned! It's very humbling to learn that there are so many
people pushing CC's mission agenda forward in various corners of the world.
Thank you for your faith and work in pursuing these goals.

Many of you desired to be supported; this was pretty clear from the Faces
of the Commons
<https://creativecommons.org/about/global-affiliate-network/faces-commons-research/>reports,
the Global Network Strategy Consultation
<https://creativecommons.org/2017/01/24/cc-community-releases-movement-strategy-consultation/>
and in my affiliate outreach earlier in the year. This fund was set up
primarily in response to your needs as a community.

I'm still analyzing the responses we got and next week I'll reveal the firs
grantees of the fund as well some basic statistics of what we're learning
from your responses.

If you haven't applied yet and you need some help with one of your
activities, kindly consider submitting your application

This Wednesday 28th June, CC Africa and CC Latin America will be hosting a
joint Community Call to explore possible areas of collaboration. Take a
peek at the agenda here <https://pad.creativecommons.org/p/africa-latam>.

Community Calls are virtual spaces where the community can meet and share,
plan and collaborate on ideas and projects. Anyone can host one. Got an
idea for one? I'd love the opportunity to discuss and plan one with you!
Hit the reply button and let's talk about it.

In the past week I wound up my second Asia Pacific outreach and happy to
report that CC Thailand is restructuring their team with a view to making
their chapter active again. CC Nepal is planning a stakeholder meeting with
a view to build out their chapter team and volunteers, CC China Mainland is
planning a meeting to discuss the Global Network Strategy
<https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2RjMKo4LG4SYnJvWGxEaEsyTG8/view?usp=sharing>
and CC Platforms <https://wiki.creativecommons.org/wiki/Platforms>, CC
Taiwan is currently undergoing a transition process, we're working with CC
Cambodia to find young and enthusiastic leaders to move the Cambodia
Chapter forward - all these are but a few of the many awesome things
happening in the region. My job is to support them in these and other
endeavours and will continue to spend time with these chapters and
contribute to their priorities.

While that continues, my focus has shifted towards Africa - my home
continent! I'll be conducting my second outreach next week and hopefully
crowning it all with a regional CC project - this was an expressed desire
from the Africa Regional Breakfast meeting we had on the sides of the last
CC Summit in Toronto. I'll also be focusing on bringing on board a number
of West African countries that have for some time now expressed interest in
joining the CC Global Network.

There's lot's more to share, but I'll save some of it for next week.

'Til next Friday y'all!

Simeon
