Greetings CC Affiliates:
I recently spent a week at Singularity University <http://singularityu.org/>
(SU); it was an amazing experience.
Their mission is to "educate, inspire and empower leaders to apply
exponential technologies to address humanity's grand challenges."
I was a student, teacher (re: CC & OER) and guide - helping SU's faculty
and executive team adopt an open licensing policy and open practices.
While there, I learned about Singularity University’s Global Solutions
Program (GSP): http://singularityu.org/gsp16
This is a 10-week program, all expenses paid, to solve one of 11 global
grand challenges:
- site: http://singularityu.org/gsp16 (see the FAQ)
- video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5RhlnfU-yU
- 2016 GSP dates: June 18 - August 28, 2016
- application deadline: Monday, February 22nd at Midnight PST
- application:
https://singularityu.slideroom.com/#/login/program/28326/6Myv01TGi6
- apply as an individual or as a team
- location: NASA Research Park in Mountain View, California (located in
Silicon Valley)
- fully funded by Google:
http://singularityu.org/su-press/singularity-university-announces-google-support-for-increased-global-access-and-diversity-in-tech/
- 2015 GSP projects: http://singularityu.org/gsp15/
If one or more CC Affiliates are accepted to this program, and CC licenses
are a core part of their project, Creative Commons will pay for their
flights (if flights are not covered by the Google grant).
Attending Singularity University is a life changing experience - I hope
some of you will apply.
I am happy to provide a "letter of reference" if useful.
Warmest regards ... your colleague,
Cable
